Provisioning With Microsoft Entra ID BETA

Typing Pal provisioning with Microsoft Entra ID is currently available in beta. If your school uses this management platform, you can set up provisioning. We will collect your feedback to optimize the process and update the documentation accordingly.

During the beta testing phase, there are two ways available to enable provisioning with Entra ID. You can use either Microsoft Education or administrative units.

Requirements for the Beta

Option A

If you have a Microsoft 365 Education subscription (A1, A3 or A5) with access to School Data Sync, you need to use SDS to do the following:

Feed Entra ID.
Create at least one school.
Create groups part of this school.
Create users and add them to these groups and school.

Option B

If you have a different kind of Microsoft subscription, you need to use Entra ID’s administrative units and be able to create the following:

An administrative unit representing a school
A group associated with the administrative unit representing the school
A user assigned the student role and added to at least one group and one school previously created
A user assigned the teacher role and added to at least one group and one school previously created
If needed, a user assigned the school administrator role and added to at least one school previously created

You also need to have a school with at least one group and add at least one student to the groups and schools created.

After determining if one of these options is right for you, contact the beta team with the following information:

The email address to use for your super administrator account
The provisioning process you want to follow (Microsoft Education or Administrative units)
The names of the schools you want in your test environment (for information purposes)

Once you receive an email confirming that your super administrator account has been activated, finish setting it up. Then, start the process to enable provisioning using Microsoft Education or Administrative units.
